An open call for writers.

The John Silence RPG & Anthology is a collective projective reinvisioning of Algernon Blackwood’s “John Silence” short stories to focus on non-white/POC/ethnically and racially marginalized psychic detectives in an alternate American noir setting spanning the 1920s to the 1990s. Pay is 6 cents per word up to 6,000 words, and a flat $30 for poetry.

DAW books is actively seeking new works of science fiction and fantasy written by and/or featuring people of color, Native people, disabled people, neurodiverse people, LGBTQIA+ people, and those from other underrepresented or marginalized communities. Crossed Genres is now open to submissions, and will close again on August 15th. They ware paying 7 cents per word for stories about resisting fascism. Word count is from 250-8,000 words. Full details can be found here.

 Cemetery Dance magazine is accepting submissions from June 5, 2018 until July 5, 2018 from authors who have never sold a story to the magazine before. If you’ve already had a story accepted for publication in the magazine, please wait for the next reading period. They are looking for stories up to 5,000 in length, and pay is pro rates. Apex Publications will be accepting unsolicited submissions of novels/novellas January 1st through January 31st.

Apex will consider novellas in length of 30,000 to 40,000 words and novels in length up to 120,000 words, and are particularly looking for novels that fit within the dark sci-fi category. Dark fantasy and horror submissions are also welcome. A literary agent is not required for submission.
